Issa's Italian Spice Mix
Final week I made lord's day-dried tomatoes to go in my custom spice mix. I love this mix and utilise it on all kinds of things. My favorite is to use it liberally on fried potatoes, but I've been known to sprinkle it over all kinds of things. I used to just by random Italian seasoning mixes at the grocery store, but it's even more fun to make my own. Just a mortar and pestle and a bunch of stuff thrown in, and I think it comes out super yummy.
Here's the recipe in case yous want to try yourself.
Ingredients
- Oregano – 2 tbsp
- Sunday-dried tomatoes – two tbsp (brand your ain!)
- Rosemary – 1 tbsp
- Basil – 1 tbsp
- Marjoram – one tbsp
- Parsley – 1 tbsp
- Ruby pepper flakes – 1 tsp
- Black peppercorn – one tsp
- Kosher salt – i tsp
The sun-dried tomatoes don't grind well in the mortar and pestle, and so I either chop them upwardly as small as I can get them, or only pull them apart (I've got great fingernails!)
So, everything goes in the mortar and pestle and I grind away. I consider it finished when in that location are no more whole peppercorns.
I used to shop information technology in a leftover empty spice jar, just I use this so much, I needed more quantity at a time, so at present I'yard using a leftover jelly jar.
Bask!
